A Wedding Weekend

Many of our Spencer Special Events weddings are destination ones.  Our couples grew up vacationing here on Hilton Head Island, or their parents have a second home here, or it's an area they've always wanted to visit!  As a result, most of the guests are from out of town so when we are planning and designing, we plan a whole weekend full of fun.

The welcome party is a trend we have been seeing over the last couple of years.  Rehearsal dinners are still very popular but are growing more intimate, and are occurring more and more on Thursdays.  This leaves room on Friday night for a party for all the out of town guests! A bit more relaxed than the wedding reception, the decor, music, and food are toned down but certainly set the stage for the weekend.

One of our dearest couples, Kara and Justin, were married this May.  The weekend started on Thursday with a wedding rehearsal at the church and then intimate dinner on the veranda at The Dye Clubhouse at Colleton River Plantation.   A Floral Affair carefully hung lanterns above the long table, overlooking the majestic river and golf course, and guests dined on Chef Robert Wysong's fabulous cuisine.  Hand cut palm fronds served as place mats and beautifully hand lettered place cards were tied to silver palm tree bottle openers.  Two fun details we just loved and carried the theme throughout the weekend.

On Friday, Spencer Special Events designed and planned a welcome party at The Westin Oceanfront Hotel. All out of town guests enjoyed delicious food, music, and a beautiful beach front view.

On Wedding Day,  Kara and Justin were married in a beautiful ceremony at Providence Presbyterian Church and the reception was held at The Colleton River Plantation's Nicklaus Clubhouse.  We can't share all the beautiful details yet, (stay tuned!) but here's a sneak peak of the gorgeous couple by Donna Von Bruening Photographers.

When planning your destination wedding, it's important to consider the whole weekend of events.  Spencer Special Events also coordinates golf outings (and even family tournaments!), brunches, yoga on the beach, spa appointments, and bridal teas and luncheons. We can help set up beach games, lounging by the pool, and so much more.

How many events you choose to have is up to you -- and Spencer Special Events is here to help you along the way!

Spotted...

Spotted:  Amanda Spencer, event designer, master planner, and owner of Spencer Special Events on the scene of two flat out to die for weddings.   We snapped a photo of her Saturday on the 18th green of the breathtaking Harbour Town Golf Links, as she made sure every detail was perfect for Elizabeth & RJ.  From the moving performance of The Lord's Prayer by The Voices of El Shaddai to the custom furniture design, food stations from around the world, and one of kind lighting installation at the reception, this wedding was full of unique and personal details that everyone will remember.  We even witnessed the Father of the Bride thanking Amanda for making the wedding weekend so perfect in his toast to the bride and groom.   A true testament to how close Amanda becomes to the families she works with, this blogger just had to share some quick snap shots...

We also spotted her the week before at The Westin Oceanfront Pavilion mid-set up for an incredibly elegant beach wedding for Stephen and Vicki.  From the rustic door escort card display, custom designed shoe valet, stunning drapery and fabulous cake, this wedding weekend was nothing short of epic.

We'll wait for the exceptionally talented Landon Jacob Productions to share photos of all the exceptional details and smiling faces.

You Know You Love Me,
XOXO
