Custom Wedding Fabric and Drapery

What makes a luxury wedding?  Of course there are many things but one item at the top of our list is beautiful draping, high end table linens and custom fabrics throughout. We sat down with the leader in custom linens, Shay Vitale at Party Tables, to hear all about the latest trends and bring her expertise to our brides and readers. Now, this was a fun one!

Over the last two years, the wedding industry has seen a plethora of weddings with natural, organic colors and fabrics. Burlap, linen, champagne, blush, cream and gold have dominated and they've been absolutely stunning.  As brides plan their 2015 weddings, Party Tables and Spencer Special Events are seeing a few new and exciting trends to share!

These trends are actually variations of classics (aren't all trends?!) and we are happy to see these reappear. According to Shay, you'll be seeing:
  1. Apple green and pear
  2. Abstract prints
  3. Vintage palms (for coastal, classic weddings)
  4. Plum purple
  5. Modern damask
Apple green, pear, and plum purple are colors that have been less featured over the last few years.  Damask has always been popular, but this modern take on a classic is one that couple's are loving!  The vintage palms breath coastal chic and add a fun flair to any Lowcountry event.

What is more fabulous than these trends (or new classics) is the quality of the linens and fabrics that Party Tables uses.  They pull in fabrics from India to China, straight to the mill, and bring it to their warehouse. They manufacture and launder in house, providing total quality control. They stock wonderful rich fabrics but customers can also go outside the inventory and order the fabric that is exactly what they want.  They'll also custom make the table linens to be exactly the size you need. To really give your tables that custom look!

Custom draping, another service that Party Tables provides and that Spencer Special Events often recommends, is a design element that really adds to your space. Whether you choose to drape a a few beams or the entire ballroom or tent, draping makes a space uniquely yours and truly softens any venue. We've had dozens of brides over the last few years do custom draping, a few great ones come to mind like these.

The above wedding at Colleton River Plantation was a tent draped in beautiful fabrics and thousands (really! thousands!) of ruffles that resembled flowers all created in organza fabric.  The couple wanted a beautiful, trendy design that was uniquely theirs.  They certainly got it!

"In the past," says Shay,  "it was about what you should do and following etiquette, but these days, it's more about the bride and groom, who they are, and what they really want. Making something that's unique that reflects the bride and groom is what we do!"

We are excited about what's ahead in wedding design and can't wait to see our upcoming projects with Party Tables! It's going to be a gorgeous fall, y'all!

  1. We had our wedding here and couldn’t have asked for anything more than what we got with the chef and staff. The Wedding venues coordinator did a wonderful job. Every little detail they took care of.
