Katelyn and Evan Engagement Portraits by Joy Marie

What happens when you have a stunning Julliard-trained Ballerina, handsome fella, dynamite chemistry, and an acclaimed celebrity wedding photographer? One smoking hot, creative engagement photo shoot!

Such is the case when our Spencer Special Events Spring 2014 bride and groom, Katelyn and Evan, worked with celebrity Los Angeles based destination wedding photographer, Joy Marie.  Today we are sharing their gorgeous engagement session and tips straight from Joy Marie herself.

Newly engaged? Take note of Joy's tips for a successful engagement photo session!

"An engagement shoot is a great opportunity to get to know your photographer, and get some beautiful images of you and your fiancé when you’re not in your wedding dress and tux. Let's be honest, you can only have so many wedding pictures on your walls. As a photographer, it's really important to me that my couples stay true to who they are, and that their personalities come out in the pictures.

You see all kinds of trends with engagement shoots, but if you’re not the couple that normally has a picnic in the middle of some overgrown grass, then it's probably not the theme you want to choose for your shoot. Not every engagement shoot needs to have a "theme,” but sometimes incorporating something that's important or personal to you into your shoot makes it a little more special. Like in the case of Evan & Katelyn, she was a Julliard-trained Ballerina for many years, so this was something they wanted to incorporate into their shoot. For you and your fiancé it may be your dog, your favorite swanky hotel or the place where you first met.

Just remember to have fun! It sounds simple, but the best photos come from the couples who are naturally enjoying their time together and loving on each other. Laugh, flirt, be sexy...relax and enjoy each other. We get the best photos when you least expect it!"
We are beyond thrilled to be working with such an amazing couple planning their destination wedding and working with this fantastic photographer.   Here's to Evan and Katelyn's journey!
