Wedding Welcome Bag Ideas

When hosting a destination wedding where guests are coming in from all over the country, Spencer Special Events always recommends providing fabulous welcome bags.  What a gracious way to welcome your guests to their hotel, home rental, or villa and just a taste of what is in store for the rest of the weekend! We LOVE these fine details and so will your guests after a day of travel.

When it comes to great welcome bags, there are a few tips to share.  First: make the bag itself special. Whether it's a jute bag that they can carry their stuff to the beach in, a personalized cooler that's perfect for cooling their brews poolside, a large personalized beach pail that kiddos love for making sand castles, a basket, or monogrammed kraft bag, make sure the bag is special.  (Packaging is everything!)

Inside we always try to provide local goodies -- not only because we love supporting local businesses but because it gives your guests a feel for the Lowcountry!  Here are some examples of our favorite things to include from Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, and our surrounding area.

Leslie and her staff at the Cottage (darling spot downtown Bluffton) make the most fabulous scones, breads, and pastries.  A recent bride of ours included fresh baked baguettes from The Cottage and her own dipping oils handmade by the bride and groom!  We love including a cocktail like Charleston, South Carolina's famous Firefly Vodka.  Heritage Shortbread cookies, Salty Dog playing cards, Lowcountry Luxe Candles, Savannah Bee Company Honey, and Palmetto Kettle Cornare also some of our favs.  We always recommend including aspirin or Alka-Seltzer for those late night party-goers! Bottles of water or sparkling refresh your guests and personalized sunscreen and chap-stick are fun ways to keep your guests protected from our warm southern sun!

Inside your welcome bag, we'll also recommend you include "Where to Go" magazines and our favorite restaurant guide for guests who want to explore the area.  And of course, we always recommend a custom welcome brochure. We work with the most talented designers to come up with a welcome guide detailing the events of your weekend. This helps organize your guests and let's them know when and where to be!

Hosting a destination wedding in the Lowcountry gives so many people the opportunity to visit this truly gorgeous area. Making sure your guests feel welcome and providing them with the right tools to enjoy the area is something we absolutely love to do!  Spencer Special Events is happy to help you every step of the way from the design, shopping, assembly and delivery!
